Skull Kid costume

Description

Here is the details for the Skull Kid costume I made for my daughter to wear on Halloween. I have some of the progress pictures up on my IG, but I may upload them here at some point.

The hat: Craft foam, felt, pipe cleaners, hair comb (to hold it in place), and a strip of cotton to tie it under the chin.
The collar and gauntlets: Craft foam and some cotton scraps on top of re-purposed gloves.
The shirt: A cheap $2 orange shirt (!) I cut up on the bottom, and a long-sleeved shirt underneath.
The shorts: Green cotton baste-stitched onto a pair of shorts my daughter already owned (so we didn't ruin them), black leggings underneath.
The boots: Craft foam that slipped right over the outside of her fluffy, warm boots.
The belt and boot rings: Old wooden curtain rings and twine.
The mask: Craft foam and acrylic paint, mod podge, and a cheap little eye mask glued underneath that has the elastic to keep it on.

It was overall very warm, since we have pretty cold and rainy Halloweens around here in the PNW. If I had to do it over again, I would have made the hat much lighter and forgone the felt. It ended up -very-heavy. But my kid was happy with it, which is all I really cared about. Success!
